Questions families ask us
- Where are your group homes in Pinellas County?
- All three of our homes are in Clearwater: Skycrest Place on Cleveland Street, Stardust on Academy Drive, and Luna Bay on N Orion Avenue. Clearwater sits in the middle of Pinellas County, so families from Largo, Dunedin, Safety Harbor, Palm Harbor, Seminole and St. Petersburg are all a short drive away.
- Who can live in an APD group home in Florida?
- Adults with a developmental or intellectual disability who are served by Florida's Agency for Persons with Disabilities. For most residents, care is funded through the APD iBudget Medicaid Waiver. APD determines eligibility โ not the home โ and your Waiver Support Coordinator is the person who helps you work through it.
- How does placement in a group home actually work?
- In most cases a family or a Waiver Support Coordinator contacts homes directly to ask about openings, visits the ones that look right, and then works with the coordinator to arrange the move. Visiting matters more than anything you can read โ you learn more in twenty minutes in a house than in a week of brochures.
- Do you have any openings right now?
- Luna Bay, our newest home on N Orion Avenue, is opening later in 2026 and is currently reserving private rooms. For our two established homes, availability changes โ call and ask, and we will tell you honestly where things stand.
- Does everyone get their own bedroom?
- Yes. Every resident in every one of our homes has a private bedroom. We do not share rooms.
